The IMMUNOSYMPTOM study purpose is to understand better the role of the gut microbiome (e.g., bacteria, fungi, and other microbes living in the human gastrointestinal tract) in pain and other comorbid symptoms following immunotherapy.

Participation in this study involves a one-time visit to The University of Connecticut Storrs or Farmington (UConn Health) campus. Participants will answer a series of questionnaires addressing pain and other comorbid symptoms associated with immunotherapy. Participants will then be asked to give a saliva sample, which we will use to study hormonal and inflammatory markers. Lastly, participants will be sent home with a kit with instructions to collect a stool sample, which will be mailed back to us in order to study the intestinal microbiome (a pre-stamped/labeled envelope will be provided).

We are also recruiting age-matched healthy control participants. You are eligible if you are aged 18-90 years, have no severe inflammatory diseases and cancer, and are willing to participate in a one-time, 2-hour study session.

We anticipate this visit to last approximately 2 hours. To compensate for your time, you will receive a $100 gift card upon completion of the study.
